HBO’s The Penguin

To launch their now critically aclaimed, original limited series The Penguin, HBO developed a sprawling campaign across Gotham (aka NYC). The comprehensive campaign consisted of a multi phased approach that saw a ficticious underground shell company “Gotham Goods” traveling around the city making moves and building strategic alliances with the city’s most notorious people, places, and institutions.

The Gotham Goods box truck stopped at multiple hot spots across the city to make drops and give out merch designed in collaboration with Only NY. A booth at New York’s famous Italian festival of San Gennaro was activated for two weeks where fans could stop by and engage with the Penguin’s pals. Pals included Emilio Vitolo of Emilio’s Ballato, Casa Magazines, New York Nico, Scarr’s Pizza and Ocky Way.

Nick designed and developed all print and digital graphics including a truck wrap, window and booth vinyls, animation/video supers, merch packaging and more. All of which resulted in a campaign with an engaging visual langauge that drew comic book and TV show fans alike into the universe of Gotham’s underworld.
